Course Number: C231 /
Category: Mathematics /
Credits: 2 /
Recommended Grades: 10,11,12 /
Level: College Prep /
Length: Full Year /
Description: This course focuses on the study of functional relationships and families of functions. Students start the year by discussing the properties and representations of functions and then apply this knowledge to polynomial functions. Students continue by considering the algebra of functions and its application to exponential and logarithmic functions. Students also expand their knowledge of trigonometric functions to the unit circle, consider imaginary/complex numbers, and return to their study of statistics. Additional topics include matrices, rational functions, trigonometry, vectors, analytic geometry, complex numbers, and polar coordinates. Graphing calculators are used extensively throughout the course.
